David Grier & Mike Compton
Our final show of 2009:
David Grier & Mike Compton

From folk-rock (Edward Sharpe) to high-energy jamgrass (Greensky Bluegrass), acoustic pop (WPA) to singer-songwriters (Gregory Alan Isakov), it's been a colorful autumn of music in the Wildflower Pavilion on Planet Bluegrass. If you've joined us this fall - including our four sold-out shows! - you've shared in the bonfires by the river (leading to an occasionally epic post-show bonfire jam) and an intense listening experience inside the toasty warm fully-enclosed pavilion. If you haven't made it out to the Wildflower this fall, you have one more chance...

We close our 2009 music season this Saturday night with two of the greatest musicians in bluegrass: David Grier & Mike Compton (Saturday, November 7). Universally admired for their virtuosity and musical personality, these two musicians share a deep love for tradition and boldly creative voices on guitar and mandolin (check out the Mike Compton video below). It's been far too long since these two masters have collaborated together on the Front Range - a spellbinding set at the 2006 Telluride Bluegrass Festival was their last Colorado show. Tickets are on sale now for this final 2009 evening on Planet Bluegrass. Get all the latest news about Wildflower Concerts by joining our new Wildflower Email Newsletter.

Amidst the backdrop of the Wildflower Pavilion, we've been busy talking to artists around the world, preparing for the 2010 festival season. Mark your calendars for all our festivals, including the Telluride Bluegrass Festival (June 17-20) and the 20th Anniversary of Rocky Mountain Folks Festival (August 13-15) on the Planet Bluegrass Ranch in Lyons.

And while you have your calendar out, make a note about our three ticket lotteries. Again this year, we will be selling our most popular tickets using an online lottery. Entries for Telluride Town Park camping (1 of many campgrounds for Telluride Bluegrass) and spaces in the RockyGrass Academy will be accepted from November 9-17. Then a week later, the lottery for on-site camping for RockyGrass (1 of 3 RockyGrass campgrounds) will be open - November 23 thru December 6.

In 2007, Governor Bill Ritter, jr. declared June 23 Colorado Bluegrass Day - honoring Planet Bluegrass for "using renewable energy to help protect our environment while producing a world-class festival." This honor reflects our years of leading the way in sustainable festivation and the green festival movement in America.
